I'd boycott it just because when they were looking for a location, I was living in San Francisco and Jefferson Starship/Airplane (or was it just Starship by then?) sang that stupid "We Built this City" song. It was on the radio all the time so now any time I hear about the Hall of Fame, I instantly have that song in my head. Bad association.

Maybe we could introduce him to this guy named Randy who was in the conservation corps with me. he only had cassettes but the cassettes he had were Journey, Journey, Journey. Oh, and the Eddie and the Cruisers tape (even worse).

San Franciscan Nights, a most excellent tune. We Built This City - is so... knee deep in the hoopla, lame. As for roommates with bad musical taste, top Belinda Carlisle. Journey is a veritable Them in comparison. My roommate at Fort Devens was into her to the exclusion of all others and he was always home and a world class c*%# blocker to boot. Being a weenie, he hated the Pistols so I would blast Bodies at him whenever I got home first, then my 45 of La Bamba which annoyed him because he was Mexican and the Smiths which I think he began to like because they were kind of mopey too

Hey Dex, you should do a whole post about old roommates with horrible musical tastes. This is fun - except the part where I get Eternal Flame and Afternoon Delight stuck in my head. I too am using the Sex Pistols to drown it out,(this is all in my head still)but I'm sticking with Anarchy. Sure, it's the commercial choice but it's great in its anthemyness (in my head that is a word).

I like Afternoon Delight. There I said it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes a questionable song here and there.

I'm not the biggest fan of Afternoon Delight myself, but a lot of stuff I like is even cheesier. I do understand which songs I like are bad and try not to subject others to them, except my daughters. My brother has already lectured me about getting my daughter into Neil Diamond (the old stuff - Sweet Caroline, Solitary Man, etc).

It reminds me of the karoke scene from Arrested Development, when Jason Batemen sings duet of Afternoon Delight with his teenaged neice at an office party before it hits him what the lyrics are about. Priceless.
