Spring Cleaning

The ammo case is from my Army days, the bumper stickers date it generally, but the contents nail down the era before I started purchasing cds. The pictures I posted yesterday and these were taken during a break from cleaning the house and the culling of items for Goodwill. I did throw out some broken tapes but still could not bring myself to get rid of all of them play them much. Some of them I can't even remember buying. Just who exactly where The Lime Spiders? Why did I have some of those soundtracks? If you look closely in the top right hand corner of the ammo box you will notice the Korean edition for Streets of Fire. The rarity of this is being that is not a bootleg copy but an official commerical release.

Sunday I am off to New Mexico for work and posting may be limited during the first hell week of the project until things settle into a routine. I have never been to Albuquerque so I am looking forward to attempting to see some of it. I am bringing along about two months worth of The New Yorker to catch up on and a copy of The Minsitry of Special Cases by Nathan Englander about Jews in Argentina during The Dirty War period of late 1970's. Should be good. I will have to do a post about my trip to Buenos Aires sometime.

Sonic Youth in the same collection as the soundtrack to "She's Having a Baby"

Does not compute.

Enjoy your travels. Hope all goes well.

I can't speak for the Soundtrack, but She's Having a Baby is an underrated, helluva good movie, even if it is played on cable all the time

Yea! I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't get over the She's Having a Baby Soundtrack.

I lived in Albuquerque when I was pregnant with Coadster. It's like Cedar Rapids for the SouthWest with a college.

If you have time, go to Chimayo and Taos. The people watching is crazy. When I lived down there, there was always some geeky white guy who looked like he could be from Ames, singing, "Africa for the Africans" kind of reggae songs. That was in 1991, though. Maybe it's changed.

Thanks for well wishes and tips. And Tim is right, She's having a Baby is a good film but also go look up the soundtrack it was/is a good mix...Love and Rockets...Gene Loves Jezebel...Kate Bush...

Hey, I still have my cassettes in an ammo case! I still have two Korean ed. tapes--CCR's Greatest Hits and the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter.

I just tossed my tapes last month. It was hard to do for the mix tapes friends had given me and tapes like the Cult's Electric I taped off of WAAF the first time they played it back in the day. Being a Zoomie and politically moderate I had my tapes in an unadorned bag I bought at AAFES.
I’m surprised how dissimilar our musical tastes were prior to U of C. The one exact tape we have in common is the Smith’s Meat is Murder. Go figure.

I just know I have an ammo case full of tapes somewhere. While I look, you confirm the dates for secret mission big thunder. On the date of your choosing, I'll see you in Flagstaff at 2 A.M. at location X. I'm bringing the ammo case.

You know Vegas is just a couple more hours towards the Sun past Flagstaff.
