The first time we had just missed a huge snow storm it was piled up everywhere. Naturally we made a pilgrimage to the Anchor Bar, home of the original Buffalo chicken wings (or so they claim). I could not talk the boys into trying to find Righteous Babe Records though.
I picked up Anthony Swofford's (Jarhead) new novel, Exit A, from the library. It's about a military brat in Japan so it looks like it could be my bowl of miso. He will be reading Wednesday night at Prairie Lights. Of course I will be in Ohio. That's two in row of his readings I will have missed. I hope I will be in town for Jane Smiley in Feb.

Hello from Spain!!!
I may try to check out the Jane Smiley reading. Strangely enough, I've never hear her read before.
Me neither. I thumbed through that last book she wrote about reading a 100 novels or so and there were articles on Guardian UK website that are worth checking out but I have not read any of her last few novels. I didn't like the film version of her King Lear novel so I skipped the book too. Might have to try it again.
The book was way better than the movie. The best King Lear movie adapation ever, is Ran.
Can't go wrong with Kurosawa...CSI a couple of weeks back did an episode called Rashomama with each CSI telling a different version of crime scene events...
